2012 Food & Beverage Investor Fair

On May 10, 2012 the third annual Food & Beverage Investor Fair was held at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco.  The event’s goal was to introduce promising young food and beverage companies that have gained some traction in the marketplace to angel and institutional investors – more than 150 attended the event which was double 2011 attendance.

Kicking off the Food & Beverage Investor Fair was the Food & Beverage Investment Forum arranged by Franz von Bradsky of Green Tree Capital along with Mark French from Greyrock Capital.  Forum participants, included two* serial food & beverage entrepreneurs, provided insights and perspectives as to the “best practices” for raising growth capital.

Moderator:  Mark French, Principal – Greyrock Capital Group

Panelists:

Andrew Branagh* – CEO – Gelato Classico

Brad Barnhorn* – Director for 7 “growth stage” food & beverage companies

Peter Pliska, Senior Vice President – New Resource Bank

Bill Shen, Vice President – Encore Consumer Capital Group

The Forum lasted for an hour and was immediately followed by presentations from 10 food & beverage entrepreneurs seeking to raise investment capital to support the growth of their company.  Throughout the event over 30 food and beverage companies provided product samples to registrants.

Green Tree Capital was a sponsor of the 2012 Food & Beverage Investor Fair.

“Boring Banks Bring Home the Bacon”

Despite significant headwinds Bank of Marin and California Bank of Commerce, have thrived the last several years. The performance of these banks has been remarkable.  Both have steadily grown net income, deposits and their loan portfolios by sticking to the basics of banking – taking deposits and lending to middle market companies.

As Mark Calvey from the San Francisco Business Times noted in his 1/31/12 article “the conversation that promises to be anything but boring” was anything but boring!
