Financing A Company

Green Tree Capital raises long-term and short-term senior debt, private equity and subordinated debt from institutional investors. Generally, the financing has ranged from $3 million to $30 million for companies with a proven track record and sales/revenues in excess of $7.5 million.

Our firm has acted as financial advisor to companies in a diverse range of industries, geographic locations and sales/revenues levels. All client engagements are treated with the utmost confidentiality.

Securing financing for a privately owned “middle market” company has always been a challenging task, and has been made much more so due to the recent financial crisis. The number and type of institutional financing sources has grown exponentially, each with their own unique investment criteria.

Sources include:

  • Commercial banks
  • Commercial finance companies – also referred to as asset based lenders
  • Corporate investors
  • Factors
  • Insurance companies
  • Leasing companies
  • Mezzanine investment firms – also referred to as subordinated debt lenders
  • Private equity firms
  • Small Business Investment Companies
  • Venture capital firms

There are now more than a thousand private equity and mezzanine investment funds with over $470 billion of capital available to deploy.

The sheer number and variety of financing sources, as well as the regulatory environment, has led to a plethora of investment criteria making the process ever more complex and time consuming. To discern the latest trends and developments, our firm maintains a regular dialogue with the key decision makers at institutional investors.

As part of the process of obtaining financing, our firm will review a client’s historical financial information, assess the validity of their projected financial statements and evaluate their business plan in order to ensure there is a reasonable prospect of obtaining the financing sought.

Upon completion of this process, Green Tree Capital will then utilize its proprietary database to identify the institutional investors and/or lenders most likely to provide the financing. We’ll then contact each financing source and assist with negotiations.

Upon acceptance of a formal financing proposal, our firm will work closely with the client’s attorneys, accountants and other professional advisors to complete the negotiation of the final terms of the financing agreement and consummate the transaction.

“Over the years Green Tree Capital has gained a reputation as a skilled advocate for clients. Franz’s integrity, perspective and in-depth knowledge of the structuring of acquisition debt enabled issues to be solved before they become insurmountable problems. Consequently, the bank was able to get comfortable with the transaction and provided the financing necessary to consummate the acquisition of SpeakerCraft and provide working capital.”
